[Deprecation Notice] Alerts Dynamic Duration Evaluation Window
Scheduled for Nov 10, 10:00 - 12:00 UTC
Scheduled
To improve the functionality of Coralogix alerts and streamline the alert creation process, we will soon be deprecating the Dynamic Duration option in the Time-Window Settings. This update will unify the evaluation time window for all alerts to a Rolling Window. This change is mainly a backend change that will not affect the way you work and will occur automatically, requiring no action on your part.
Change will be applied starting November 10th 2024.

What Is Affected?
Only alerts configured with Dynamic Duration in the Time-Window Settings, primarily used for alerts created before 2023, will be updated automatically to the new Rolling Window.

What Should You Do?
No action is required from customers. Your alerts API and Terraform configurations will continue functioning as usual, with no code changes necessary on your side.

What Will Happen After the Change?
Following this update, Coralogix will apply a consistent evaluation method to all alerts. Specifically, the time window setting refers to an internal process for when to start reassessing alerts after the alert triggered. Once the update is in place, after an alert is triggered the Coralogix system will analyze data only after the full configured time window has passed, ensuring consistency across all alerts.

How Might This Affect You?
If your notification settings, particularly “notify every”, are set for a shorter period than the evaluation window of the alert, you may receive multiple notifications for the same incident. An indicator in the alert UI will highlight this behavior.
To avoid breaking Terraform scripts, the option to update Dynamic Duration in the Time-Window Settings will remain but will not be visible in the UI and will not change alert behaviour.

Next Steps
Beginning November 10th 2024, Coralogix will transition to a single evaluation methodology for all alerts and add indication in the UI in case we identify that your setup might result in multiple notification on the same alert instance.
